Kevin pointed out to me that several families we know are vacationing (AGAIN!) over the 'holidays.'
here I felt quite blessed getting a holiday weekend off AND getting to see my kids and grand kids altogether. And there are families going on cruises. and to the beach. over the motherfuckin' holidays? on top of buying presents? why even put up a tree if you aren't gonna keep your ass home where you belong? One year (before we had grand kids) Kevin mentioned it would be cool to go on a "Xmas vacation" in south Missouri and stay in a resort with fireplace, and sleigh rides, etc. for Xmas. would be so awesome. lugging all your gifts. and then lugging them all back home. But we have real life jobs in the real world that doesn't shut down for holidays. our jobs aren't as important as EMTS and firefighters, but somebody has to be there every day feeding pigs and loading trucks. our curse, I guess.

and back to my we're not a hohoho-y enough family....
I've never been in a Gingerbread House contest like Bob from Bob's Burgers. or even made a gingerbread house. I'm not known for delectable holiday treats. I know a couple who throw a Christmas Eve party every year...they pick a country and make food, celebrate the traditions, games, etc. of that country. I've never won a Christmas light contest. or seen a live manger scene. or served in a soup kitchen. I've never rang a bell for Salvation Army or spearheaded a toy drive. I've never made treats as a surprise for friends and neighbors. or decorated my car like a reindeer. or went to an ugly Christmas sweater party. I've never made beautiful handcrafted ornaments to sell on Etsy. or took my pets for a photo with Santa. or went to a Christmas party with a bowl full of keys like The Grinch. I've never carved rare Who beast. I've never went ice skating in a red velvet fur trimmed dress. (I once upon a time knew how to ice skate.) or participated in a Christmas Miracle (Elf.) or spent Xmas stranded in an airport. or drove thru the Xmas lights at Krug Park or Branson. Never drank egg nog. or ate fruit cake. I don't give all my loved ones new jammies to open on xmas eve so we look beautiful on xmas morning. no super secret xmas breakfast brunch casserole recipe. I don't make wonderful handcrafted items for my loved ones. (Alaska The Last Frontier.) I don't decorate my work cubicle. (I have a locker, but don't decorate it for the holidays....)
I've been meaning to have a Cajun Christmas since 2013. and now I want to have an Ugly Sweater Party!!!!

We have all seen the hilarious photos of guys wearing dated ladies Christmas Sweaters with accessories. Well, this party theme is sure to be a big hit with your friends…it was so much fun! Our party was an office party hosted in our home. The talk around the office for the past couple of weeks was…”did you get your sweater yet?!” Prizes were awarded to the guy and girl with the best sweaters! Christmas Sweater Party Ideas | OhMy-Creative.com I was really at a loss on what to create for the centerpiece, until I came across these very cute sweater wine bottle covers! I just couldn’t believe how perfect they were. I have these large glass candle holders that I keep on my dinning room table and I knew they would be perfect to fit over them. I found mine at Marshalls, but I have seen them (in the store) at pier 1 and Bed Bath & Beyond. They could easily be placed on any large size candle holders or even used as intended…on wine bottles!

I watched my two "new" xmas movies....
Christmas Vacation 2 Cousin Eddie's Island Vacation & Krampus.
my ghost hunting bestie Tracy & I exchanged gifts....(I got her sparkly ghost socks!)
AND we got a wonderful plate of homemade Christmas goodies from the Henley family!
I seriously want to be one of those families....like our neighbors the Eastin's with their annual xmas cookie decorating contest...the families who spend a day making candy...or tromp out the woods to cut down their own tree....who string their house with lights...or caroling around the neighborhood...
I mean, we do have our own traditions, I guess....hanging up xmas cards...I want to host a Louisiana Xmas. (have been saying this since 2013. maybe next year?) and I want a live tree next year.

got ghost socks for my ghost hunting friend Tracy.
ordered jeans for KJ. some super secret stuff from Bass Pro & Victoria's Secret for Katie + the stuff she put in my carts to buy her. spent all day looking for something else for Kevin. Chiefs hoody? Memphis Grizzly jersey? something from Etsy? a Man Crate? finally clicked on a link to make a book about him. will he like it? who knows. did I spend way too much damn time clicking wrong buttons and erasing everything and starting over again? definitely. it became a fucking quest I had to complete. And I won. I think.....
